I tried a different harddrive and ReactOS build 54291 installs and boots using the "Standard Uniprocessor" setting in Hardware config screen, the only problem now is when I try to open Task manager ReactOS blue screens, any way heres a vid of ReactOS working: http://youtu.be/O-A3V5c88HE

UPDATE:
im happy with ReactOS build 54291 on real hardware but there are 2 major bugs:
1 when I try to open Taskmanager ReactOS bluescreens
2 when you try to specify a location for a hardware driver the menu freezes which causes ReactOS to freeze, sooo, then you try to open Taskmanger to cancel the installer menu and ReactOS crashes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6sKUz71MhU

* the network card driver was installed using the Driver Installation applet but this time I chose "search removable media" and it found the driver.

The theme i'm using is Gem from styleXP plus the max_geish_blue wallpaper that you can find on the ReactOS forums.

==========
So as a roundup:

email: working using Thunderbird
internet: working using Firefox 2 ( newer builds work but I like Firefox2 )
A drive: works, yes, you can use your trusty (crusty?) old floppy disks
D drive: works, I can open my CDr's etc
USB: keyboard not detected (usinga ps2 keyboard), mouse not detected (using ps2 adapter on usb mouse ),
usb e-sata harddrive not detected, usb flash drive not detected.
Directx: have not tried any games that require directx support.
Applications: download and install fine via ReactOS's Application Installer, apps also download and install fine via the internet.
Themes: themeing of Windows and menu's works, themeing of explorer sort of works.
Stability: it's easy to make ReactOS bluescreen but just reboot and ReactOS is fine.

If you have any questions or requests just ask.

I have made up a ReactOS install cd with a few extras ( look inside the drivers folder ), if your computer/laptop can run windows 2000 or newer then it can run ReactOS.

NOTE: DO NOT install ReactOS on your main computer or laptop! DO NOT try to dual boot Windows and ReactOS on your main computer or any computer that you would be upset about losing your os or all of your data!,only install ReactOS on a spare computer!!!!

otherwise, enjoy: http://www.mediafire.com/?ynr46iuz4tuldxl

some caveats
ReactOS supports SMP ( if ReactOS will not install using SMP, change your processor at the hadware config screen by clicking the "processor" line and choose "uniprocessor" ), yes any computer that run windows 2000 should run ReactOS.

some usb mice and keboards work, ps2 mice and ketboards work best (or a usb mouse to ps2 converter, they are cheap and common *ebay*), USB external drives WIL NOT be detected so dont bother trying.

audio is mostly like NOT going to work, and there is some? Dirextx 9.0 support in ReactOS.

for those people that do not have a spare computer i have supplied a live cd ,just boot it like any other "live CD":http://www.mediafire.com/?pjbribwgph960zn

*also, dont be afaid to ad your own drivers to the iso file, any driver that works in windows xp may? work in ReactOS, your best option is to choose "search removeable media" when the driver installer window appears.
